‘Society of the Snow’ | January 4, 2024

When a Rugby team’s flight crashes on a glacier in the Andes, the few remaining survivors find themselves trapped in one of the world’s most unsurvivable environments. The film is a true story based on Pablo Vierci’s nonfiction book of the same name and is a tale of friendship, hope, and resilience. The 72-day timeline led to conversations about cannibalism and survival necessities, but the team never reached a Lord of the Flies state of mind. Rather, they discussed relying on the already deceased bodies for nourishment with some even giving their consent to become food if they were to die. This movie packs a visceral, often stomach-churning punch, so be prepared. J.A. Bayona (The Orphanage, The Impossible, A Monster Calls) directs a large ensemble, including Agustín Pardella, Esteban Kukuriczka, Francisco Romero, Valentino Alonso, Tomas Wolf, and more. 

‘Good Grief’ | January 5, 2024

Good Grief, from writer, director, and star Dan Levy, follows a man whose husband unexpectedly dies, leading him to take an unexpected soul-searching trip to Paris with his two closest friends. The trip reveals some difficult truths that have needed to surface for quite some time. The movie stars Ruth Nega and Himesh Patel as the two besties and Luke Evans as Levy’s swoon-worthy partner who dies too soon. The romantic dramedy marks Levy’s directorial film debut and has been receiving quite a bit of hype since the trailer dropped.

‘Lift’ | January 12, 2024

Lift is an upcoming American heist comedy starring Kevin Hart and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as an ex-couple who team up to steal $100 in gold bullion being transported on a 777 passenger flight. F. Gary Gray (The Negotiator, The Italian Job) directs with a screenplay by Daniel Kunka (12 Rounds, Yellowstone Falls). The upcoming action comedy also stars Sam Worthington, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Billy Magnussen. 

‘The Bequeathed’ | January 19, 2024

The upcoming K-drama follows a woman who inherits a burial ground and finds herself at the center of a string of murders and dark secrets after the death of her unknown uncle. From creators Yeon Sang-ho, Min Hong-nam, and Hwang Eun-young, the mystery thriller series stars Kim Hyun-joo, Park Hee-soon, and Park Byung-eun. 

‘Griselda’ | January 25, 2024

Griselda stars Modern Family alumn Sofia Vergara as Griselda Blanco — a Colombian businesswoman who created one of the most profitable cartels in history. In this upcoming series based on true events, the comedy-savvy star leaves behind the laughs in favor of intrigue, ruthlessness, cunning, ambition, pain, and heartbreak. The series from creator Doug Miro (who also brought us Narcos) also stars Rosa Ochoa, Desiree Alexandra Estrada, Martín Rodríguez, and Martín Fajardo and is directed by Andrés Baiz (The Hidden Face, Roa).

Blending documentary elements with dramatique flair, Alexander: The Making of a God chronicles the life story of Alexander the Great, the King of the Ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon. When Is The Netflix Drama Alexander: The Making Of God Coming? Well, in January 2024, Netflix plans to wrap up the month with a fascinating new series that blends documentary elements with drama. Tony Mitchell (The Baxter’s and The Bible) serves as showrunner, while Hugh Ballantyne (Man vs. Wild, Industrial Junkie) directs the series. Mido Hamada (American Sniper, Emerald City) portrays King Darius, while Buck Braithwaite (Flowers in the Attic: The Origin) stars as lead protagonist Alexander the Great.
